JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- It's a hurtful slur Monte Kingstone never thought he would find on his Jacksonville Beach home. "It makes you feel violated, called out and very angry," Kingstone said.

But Friday night anti-gay grafitti was spray painted in white on his driveway. "Being a gay man, that appeared to me to be a hate crime," he said.

The vandalism has since been cleaned up, but the word started with the letter F. We blurred the video of the damage because Action News does not use or promote that kind of language. "I am not the type of person to out myself, but sometimes you have to take a stand," said Kingstone.

The Jacksonville Beach Police Department is investigating this as a criminal mischief case. Kingstone believes a teenager he told to get out of his driveway may be responsible.

"There is no local law protecting us, we turned it down. That's one of the reasons I decided to move. You see my house is for sale. I built a beautiful home here, but I want to leave because I feel Jacksonville is not the kind of place I want to live," said Kingstone.

Though the slur is now gone, Kingstone says the damage he feels can't be repaired so easily. If you have any information that can help police with this case, call Duval County Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.

I agree mommylife, And I absolutely ABHORE anyone who can verbally or physically attack anyone BECAUSE of their sexual orientation, but for me to PRAY for a criminal's soul is NO DIFFERENT for me to pray for a gay person's soul, it is what any Christain should do. A "good soul' is a 'terrible thing to waste" and redemption is NEVER too late in the eye's of God. But to broadcast your sexual orientations to the world can be inviting/causing trouble...straight or gay. It serves no 'useful' purpose whatsoever to the MAJORITY of people who believe in the weight of the scales.

nativejax: My previous post stated absolutely nothing about this incident being any more or less hateful than a crime committed against someone of a different sexual orientation. A person's sexual orientation does not make them any more or less a victim when a crime has been committed against them. It is you who is stating otherwise. There is NO EXCUSE for the reckless disregard of another person's property and there is NO EXCUSE for intentionally causing pain of any kind to another human being PERIOD. We as a community should not condone hateful behavior of any kind PERIOD. We as human beings should accept that other human beings may be different from us, because as individuals we are ALL different (no two people are exactly alike). I do not pray for people because of their differences. I pray for people who are experiencing pain. I pray for people who cause pain. I pray for those that I care for and those that I do not. You are entitled to your opinions, beliefs, religion and sexual orientation and so is everyone else in our community. These are mine, thank you and have a nice day!

Yeah right, well good luck with that, the crimes perpetrated on homosexuals is no more HATEFUL than the crimes perpetrated on anyone else..get off your 'priviledged' high horse and really read the Bible, it clearly STATES 'admonination's'/sin's and whether we should 'partake' in it or not...Why would anyone harm their own soul before REALLY asking God for guidance? And if they don't want to WAIT for that guidance, go ahead and do it anyway then WHY expect us to feel sorry for them and 'cry' with them when they throw their private life out in the public like WE ALL are guilty and responsible for their misfortunes? Sounds whiny and pathetic to me..NOW THAT'S my judgementmental opinion, one in which I know pizzes people off but I am STILL entitled to. I feel HE DID bring it on himself. Someone knew his sexual preferences, why was his driveway targeted? If I go bring goats in sheep country, I WILL KEEP THEM HIDDEN. NO NEWS STATION WILL BE HEARING OF ANY FURTHER 'BAAAing' FROM MY HOUSEHOLD TO CAUSE MY SELF ANY FURTHER ATTACKS. I am 'better than that' and know who and WHAT I am. I am not PRIVILEDGED to further tolerance or compassion from my neighbors just because I AM DIFFERENT. Sometime the price of FREEDOMS AND PEACE come at a sacrifice. AND TRUE LOVE ONLY SURVIVES THROUGH SACRIFICE., no matter who love's who.

This man did not bring this upon himself! It is reckless and borderline hateful to suggest such a thing. He was the victim of a crime and there is no excuse for the behavior of the person who committed this crime. Instead of attacking the victim in this situation we should be attacking the vandal for their lack of tolerance, compassion, and respect for the property of others. We should be coming together as a community and making it known that this type of behavior will not be tolerated in our city. This man is no less of a person or resident of this city than anyone else, which means he has just as much of a right to live his life without persecution or damage to his property as you or I do. I truly hope that they catch the person who did this and I will pray that this man is able to recover from any emotion harm that may have resulted from this crime.

EXAMPLE: I am a fairly attractive straight female. But I got called 'goatwoman' ALL 4 years throughout High School. I SHOULD NOT HAVE let anyone KNOW my dad bought goats with his cows and pigs he was raising..That area of country was COW, SHEEP and PIG country. It was my fault, I thought they were cute and cuddly...I had no idea of the 'stigma' that came with telling my 'friends' at school. I never had ONE date, I was bullied and I was 'baaa' at constantly just walking class to class. It left a huge mark that because of our 'difference's' AND for the sake of getting 'along in this world', I DON'T HAVE to tell the world everything. NO ONE needs to know ANYONE'S sexual preferences or behaviors..PERIOD. IT IS suppose to be 'sacred' or in non believers,'secret'...something we should KEEP TO OURSELVES. The only time it should be of PUBLIC RECORD is when someone or a child has been ASSAULTED sexually and the PUBLIC SHOULD BE AWARE OF IT. Why does ANYONE have the CONSTANT NEED to 'KEEP' DETAILS of their SEX LIFE out in the open? It is wrong, it is wrong for the news stations to keep reporting on it. This man went to the police..he got treated with the same respect all of us would, he didn't have to CONFIRM OR DENY his 'sexual preferences. It only makes decent people sneer their nose MORE at the CONSTANT BARRAGE of sex sex sex. If my grandson asked me why those two men are 'holding hands' I would have to EXPLAIN to him they are BEST FRIENDS and love each other. Isn't that what gays are claiming they are feeling also? IT SHOULD STOP RIGHT THERE. They SHOULD have no NEED to publicize it ANY FURTHER, or announce to the world they are GAY, it only causes trouble and they know it. WE ALSO PRAY FOR THOSE WHO ARE DIFFERENT but that doesn't mean we HAVE accept it. Homosexuality is tolerated VERY well in Jacksonville...this man did not have to 'out himself and claim his 'feeling' are so hurt now he has to move, and he knew it, he KNEW it would cause a public outcry.

I think Monte should not have to sell his house and move because of some kid who put a horrible graffiti word on his driveway, if the parents teach their kid better to not vadilize no human being should be subjected to their ignorance. This is very sad that he is selling his house and moving because of some creep.

I wouldn't say that there are no laws protecting you from graffiti on your property. When they catch the creep they will charge him with criminal mischief, a property right violation.

No, Capabooey, YOUR VERY WORDS are what is WRONG with people, "and please don't bring that 'old book' into". That OLD book did not get titled 'HOLY' for nothing. That book was written to INSPIRE people to return to 'MORALITY' and to let us know OUR SALVATION is at sake. NO WHERE IN IT'S CONTEXT DOES IT SAY OR CLAIM TO BE FACT OR FICTION. JUST BECAUSE YOU AND MANY OTHERS WANT IGNORE IT CONTENTS AND TWIST IT AROUND TO 'ENJOY' YOUR TWISTED SENSE OF MORALITY AND CLAIM TO BE "MORE OPENED MINDED" ABOUT IT SO IT MUST BE OK, is your own personal PRIVATE bussiness. It's your 'life'. BUT when it is open to the public as an OPTION as a ACCEPTABLE lifestyle, and now using the SAME CONGRESS to ask to LEGALIZE it, then you OPEN YOURSELVES UP FOR CONDEMNATION. It's STILL a free country, and YOUR life. Our 'CHILDREN' should not be taught in Sunday school/home to love and listen to Jesus and God and YOU turn around to this person who CHOSE this 'lifestyle' DOES NOT NEED to be prayed for. INSTEAD YOU TEACH THEM ITS OK AND ALLOWED? JUST BECAUSE YOU REFUSE TO BELIEVE AND RAISE YOUR EYES TO GOD, DOESN"T MEAN WE ALL HAVE TO HANG OUR HEADS AND IGNORE SOMEONE WHO HAS LOST THEIR WAY AND NEEDS GOD MORE THAN EVER. And no, kellywine, the person who vandalized this man's driveway SHOULD be prosecuted, but the owner did NOT have to out himself just because his sexual 'preferences' were true. And I never judged this man, I simply pointed out AGAIN, if you want to live 'unnatural or unclean lifestyles, I don't CARE what it is, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF..or the attention you may get will NOT be the kind your looking for, that's just COMMON SENSE NOT JUDGEMENT. SOMEONE must have known he was gay, how ironic it was HIS driveway alone that got vandalized.. WHO this owner SLEEPS WITH is his own private matter between HIM and HIS GOD, the whole world doesn't need to know about it, he SHOULD have kept it to himself. THAT'S WHEN PEOPLE WILL START LEAVING IT ALONE PUBLICLY.

So by this man living in his home and the fact he was gay means he was putting it out there? Wow sounds like your the one who needs to check your morals. Preaching your sex is sacred and talking about immoral behaviors.... Who the hell are you!!!! Right, no one important. This kid needs to be held responsible for his actions. I guess if he would have painted "bible freak" across a pastors house you would be ready to crucify him. Perhaps his parents should teach him that we all are created equal no matter sex, race, or religion. Acceptance is key to this countries survival and bigots like you are the problem here. I'm a straight woman and my children are taught to love one another and embrace those that are different and offer support to those in need. Persecution is never the answer and judgement is NOT your job, check your book.

When my wife and I moved to this area last year, we knew things would be much different from our native New York. "Nativejax" - Your attitude is what is wrong with this country. How is it that YOU get to choose what kind of behavior is "immoral"? And please don't bring that old book into it. Words written thousands of years ago, interpreted a thousand different ways to suit someone's needs. How is it that sitting in your home, minding one's own business is "bragging" about a lifestyle? "Sex is sacred"? That statement is too ridiculous for words. Get your head out of the sand and open up your eyes. Its a big, beautiful world out there filled up with all kinds of people. You might get to enjoy it more if you open up your mind a bit.
