JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Today's bond hearing for Michael Dunn took all of the emotion out of Ron Davis, as he stared down his son's alleged killer in the middle of the courtroom.
"It was so hard to do that and that's why I just asked for mercy from The Lord to help me through that," he said. "I locked eyes with him, and it took everything I had to stand firm and not to move forward."
Meanwhile, the public got its first glimpse of Michael Dunn's parents, who say they are willing to pay for their son's bond and take full responsibility for him if he is to be released on house arrest with a GPS ankle bracelet. Dunn's parents claim they would make sure their son doesn't flee.
"No, I wouldn't and Mike would never do that," said Dunn's father, Phillip.
More than 10 of Dunn's friends and family testified that he is no longer a flight risk. They say he sold his plane weeks before the shooting and has lived in Florida most of his life.
Dunn's parents also both testified that their son never showed any violent tendencies, but it wasn't enough proof for the judge to grant his bond at least for now. It was a small relief for Jordan Davis' parents who just want justice for their slain son.
"It continues to prolong our pain," said Jordan's mom, Lucia McBath. "It prolongs what we're going through and it's going to get harder and harder.
