JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The judge is expected to rule Thursday on whether George Zimmerman will be granted bond for a second time.

We are also getting a better idea of just how bad Zimmerman's injuries were as his lawyer tries to prove Trayvon Martin's death was in fact self defense. A legal expert is also weighing in on impact the judge's decision about Zimmerman's bond will have on the case overall.

Zimmerman's lawyer wants the judge to look at medical evidence closely when deciding whether to give him bond for a second time. Just released documents this week, show Zimmerman refused treatment from a specialist for wounds to his head and a broken nose.

Legal expert Dale Carson says all of that will factor into the judge's decision. "It does reflect, well I'm not that injured," said Carson.

Carson says that's why Zimmerman's lawyer has to play up how bad the injuries really were. Carson says no matter what the judge decides, it will say a lot about the evidence and the state's case. "If he came off as genuine, which I think he did, there's a good change it'll be reinstated, but I'm sure the dollar amount he'll have to put for bond will go up," said Carson.

We asked what impact it might have on the case if Zimmerman isn't granted bond. "In my mind, the case is stronger than I originally thought," said Carson.

The judge is expected to rule on whether to give Zimmerman bond for a second time at some point Thursday. His attorney has asked the judge to release Zimmerman again on the original $150,000 bond.
