McALLEN, Texas (AP) - Police say a Texas judge who was secretly videotaped beating his teenage daughter seven years ago won't face charges because the statutes of limitations have passed.

Rockport Police Chief Tim Jayroe said Thursday that Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams likely would have been charged with causing injury to a child and other assault offenses if the five-year statutes of limitations hadn't expired.

Adams is still being investigated by the state Department of Family and Protective Services, which has requested he not preside over any of its cases.

Adams' 23-year-old daughter, Hillary, posted the 8-minute clip of the 2004 beating on YouTube last week that shows her father savagely lash her 17 times with a belt.

This parent, also being a judge knows the seriousness of criminal activity no matter how petty it may seem to be. If he's ever had a youth before him who started out doing petty crimes, getting away with it until finally being held accountable, then he was just trying to prevent his daughter from going down that same path. People have spanked, or beaten their children from thousands of years ago but did the human race cease because of the chastisement? People in this century think children are "too good" to be chastised, and where has this gotten us. They are worse today than they ever have been. No respect for God, country or fellow man. And I totally agree with JaxFriend and ThePreacherMan. GOOD! And of course she is not telling the entire story. She had no business taping and uploading the video. It's clear she feels she was right in what she did. Unless she changes her way of thinking she may find herself standing before a judge who is not her father, and when she is sentenced to jail, she'll find that what goes on in jails is far worse than getting a much-needed behind or butt beating. That's one of the most padded parts of the body and one function the backside is made for. I wish more bleeding-heart parents would do the same. The jails are now filled with more children and youth than at any other time in history.

She is a spoiled brat and should be arrested for black-mail. She is most likely not telling the hole story.
