BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- An eight-day trial at the Glynn County Courthouse ends with no verdict in sight.

The jurors broke for deliberations around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

When the judge returned to the courtroom just before 6 p.m., it was with a request. The jurors wanted to review the 911 call and interrogation video again. During closing arguments the defense reminded the jurors that DNA evidence wasn't on the weapons found at the crime scene.

"It is certainly a weapon used by someone in an offensive manner to cause harm and it can't be tied to Guy Heinze Jr.," said defense attorney Newell Hamilton.

Lack of evidence was also the foundation to the prosecution's argument, poking holes at the defense's story.

"I guess the implication is there's some gang activity here. A gang of people went over there and killed these folks. The problem with that is there's no evidence of that," said Assistant District Attorney John Johnson.

Heinze is facing eight counts of murder, among other drug charges. He's accused of beating eight people to death in 2009.

The jury will resume deliberations Thursday at 9 a.m.
