LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A Lake City woman is in jail facing a murder charge after police say she called 911 after shooting and killing a man.
The Lake City Police Department arrested Lavelle George, 40, of Lake City, after responding to reports of a shooting at 743 SE Camp Street at 6:32 p.m. Saturday.
Police say they were notified about the shooting by 911 and when they called the residence back a woman answered and said "send police" before she hung up the phone.
When officers arrived on scene they found George standing in the front yard.
George told the responding officer "I shot him," and was restrained before the officer entered the home to find a man who was dead.
Police say they saw a lot of blood in a bathroom and what appeared to be a Christmas tree bag covered in blood.
Officers found the body of 29-year-old Maurice Mickler inside the bag.
Police have not released details about the shooting or stated what the relationship is between George and Mickler.
The Lake City Police Department is still investigating and is asking anyone who may have information about this incident to call the anonymous TIP line at (386) 719-2068.
