JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Thursday night, with just hours to go until a planned board of trustees meeting, Florida State College at Jacksonville administrators moved the meeting to October 9th.

Board meetings are typically planned weeks in advance--but this meeting comes on the heels of a turbulent few weeks for the college. Four high-ranking officials were suspended for wrongly awarding Pell grants to students who didn't qualify for them. Gov. Rick Scott called for a complete investigation into FSCJ’s finances, stating "the leadership of the college, from the top down, must be seriously reviewed."

Now some are wondering if Friday's meeting may focus on the man at the top, President Steve Wallace.

According to the college's website, trustees are going to talk about "employment matters."

None of the nine trustees were willing to elaborate on the special meeting.

Action News asked the school's open campus student president, Allishia Edmonds, if FSCJ needs a shakeup at the top.

“No, in my personal experience as a student I think we have great leadership,” said Edmonds.

While the governor is now questioning the school's leadership, Edmonds is confident Wallace and his team is right for the job. “It makes me really sad because I think FSCJ is such a great school, especially for students like me. I wasn't the top student in high school. It gives students a chance, a hope to do something better with their lives."

No one from the school was willing to comment about the upcoming meeting.
