MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Six gay couples have filed a lawsuit in South Florida seeking to overturn Florida's ban on same-sex marriage.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Miami-Dade Circuit Court on behalf of the couples by Equality Florida Institute Inc. The lawsuit claims Florida's gay marriage ban violates the U.S. Constitution's guarantees of equal protection and due process.

Similar claims have been made in other states, where judges in many cases have struck down gay marriage bans as discriminatory. Florida attorneys said there are lawsuits challenging same-sex marriage bans pending in 40 states.

Florida voters enshrined a ban on same-sex marriage in the state constitution in 2008. Attorneys for the gay couples say they believe public opinion is different now and that judges are increasingly concluding the laws are unconstitutional.

I don't think it should be Legal it is wrong and I don't believe in it and I don't think it should be pushed on us. We don't push our beliefs on them so they should not be able to do it to us.

yesUisdumb, I'll take 'stupidity' over 'IMMORALITY' anyday...Just because you want to PUBLICLY brag of your sin, DOES NOT mean you have the right to drag others to hell with you. And just because 2 consenting adults "do what they please" does not make it right or legal. warpsix has it right, go live in the states that DOESN'T have laws against sodomy..because MANY of us have and ALWAYS WILL know your lifestyle is SICK. Seek help since you won't seek God, Quit forcing your sicknesses on us through the Courts just because you like to sin. And JUST BECAUSE I have an opinion that reflects what the Holy Bible declares, does NOT MEAN I HAVE TO KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT about anything, especially when people are just plain sick.

Warpsix - How about understanding what makes the law. Consenting adults can do what they please. If you care so much about marriage, then focus on the horrific divorce rate that heterosexual couples have. Keep your religion and asinine thoughts out of my life. Why dont YOU move to an island that supports your stupidity.

There are 49 (56 if you use 0bama math)other states you can move too, some of those allow you to marry. Move Out if you don't like a State Law. I have Nothing against you doing what you want but next thing you know someone will want to marry a special Goat or Horse, you have to draw a line somewhere.
