BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) -- Defense attorneys say a coastal Georgia man charged with murder passed a polygraph test in which he denied killing his father and seven others.

Guy Heinze Jr. is scheduled to stand trial Sept. 23 for the 2009 slayings. His lawyers filed a court motion Tuesday asking a judge to let jurors hear results of Heinze's polygraph test, but only if he's convicted and the trial moves to a sentencing phase.

If convicted, Heinze faces the death penalty.

The Brunswick News reports Heinze took the test June 14. According to court filings, the polygraph examiner concluded the suspect was "telling the truth" when he denied being the killer.

Polygraph results are rarely admitted as evidence in Georgia, though judges can allow them if both prosecutors and defense attorneys consent.

That would be a hoot! And I think you've got a point there!

But wouldn't that be the cats meow if one of his drug head friends killed them over money? Stranger things have happened. I think he's guilty of 'something'.

Polygraphs have never been foolproof. That's why they haven't been permissible in the past.
