Leaders welcome students back to school

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Students at five Duval County schools will be greeted by the district's top officials when they return to class today.

Mayor Alvin Brown will join Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals and all seven school board members for a tour to help kick off the new year.

"I want to make sure all the students go back to school the first day. It's very important and I want the parents to be fired up. This going to be a great school year," said Brown when he visited the Action News morning show Friday.

The following is the schedule for the tour:

7 a.m. - Jackson High School

8:30 a.m. - Ed White High School

9:30 a.m. - Forrest High School

10:30 a.m. - Ortega Elementary

11:30 a.m. - Julia Landon College Prep
