PENSACOLA, Fla. -- A baseball brawl involving Arlington Country Day School players and a team from Oklahoma may have started over racial slurs.
The fight took place last Thursday in Pensacola andinvolved players from Norman High School in Oklahoma City. The fight was in the sixth inning of the Tate Aggie Classic's third place game. Both teams were forced for forfeit the game after the altercation.
The coach of the Florida team, made up of players from Dominican heritage, tells CBS affiliate KWTV he heard racial slurs coming from the Norman team. However, many of those who were at the game said they didn't hear any racial slurs.
Norman's coach Brian Aylor said he didn't know one thing about the team, coach or their history before the game.
Taylor Morgan, the Athletic Director at Arlington County Day released the following statement, "I just received the umpire's report and I am still investigating. The baseball team will not travel to the East Cobb Invitational this week and will await the decision of the commissioner. ACD regrets that this incident happened and will abide by the SIAA ruling."
