JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The volunteer search for missing University of Florida student Christian Aguilar will end tonight, as police continue the official search for the South Florida teen who disappeared more than two weeks ago.

A local woman is still determined to help the missing teen’s family.

Beverly McClain knows the pain the Aguilars are facing all too well. She lost her son in 2005 and since then has become an advocate for families who have also lost loved ones

McClain lost her son in 2005. Andre Johnson was missing for days before police found his body in the river. From that moment on, McClain wanted to provide a support system for parents who lost a child. Since its inception, Families of Slain Children has helped dozens of local families.

"We laugh together; we cry together, we break bread together. We are here for one another and that's what God wants,” said McClain.

McClain is driving to Gainesville on Saturday morning to show the family that they are not alone in this tragedy. “There's somebody like myself and others who have walked in those shoes and we're here to support you, to rally around you."

She plans to provide emotional support and will offer to help collect donations for the Aguilar family.
