JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Kevin McAfee, 8, is a modern-day Picasso. He loves to create and color, that's why he entered a national drawing competition. When the call came in with results, everyone was shocked.
"We heard about a month later from the White House, a call to his school that he actually won," mother Seana McAfee said.
That's right. The second-grader's poster was handpicked by First Lady Michelle Obama herself.
"I drew the White House, then drew a lot of kids being active," he said.
McAfee also drew Bo Obama, the dog, and kids with disabilities. As a result of that artistic expression, he and his family are heading to D.C. Easter weekend with an invite to the annual Egg Roll. There was some question on whether it or not it would be canceled due to budget cuts, but so far, it looks like it's a-go.
"Event of a lifetime for them forever that they will remember. We have our airline tickets, we have our hotel reservation, and we just cannot wait to go," Seana McAfee said.
McAfee has gotten congrats from his St. Mark's Episcopal Day School all the way to Congressman Ander Crenshaw. He says his favorite part will be flying on an airplane, but the house on Pennsylvania Avenue is cool too.
"I feel really great about going to the White House," he said with a smile.
