Local couple dead in reported murder-suicide

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- A man and woman in Clay County are dead in a reported murder-suicide that happened in the Cottages apartment complex in the Oakleaf Plantation community Wednesday night.

The sheriff's office identified the couple as Kayla Beynon and Zachary Johns, both were 23 years old.

Authorities believe Johns shot Beynon and then himself with a 40-caliber handgun.

Deputies and detectives responded to the complex on Silver Bluff Boulevard around 6:45 p.m.  

They say the couple is not married, but have a child together.

The child is in the care of Kayla Beynon's mother.
