Local deputy receives huge honor
ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- One of our area's finest officers is receiving a huge honor. Detective Matt Hanlin with the Clay County Sheriff's Office has been named "Deputy Sheriff of the Year."
He was honored for his heroic actions during a raid on a drug house where he was shot during that raid. His partner, detective David White, was killed.
The man who fired the gun was shot and killed by officers.
