JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A deadly flu season in Florida has doctors worried and urging leaders to take action.

"At Shands Hospital in Gainesville, we've had 13 deaths from influenza," said expert Dr. Parker Small.

At least 12 of them did not get a flu shot, according to Small, who's been studying this disease for decades at the University of Florida's Emerging Pathogens Institute. He said Florida has the lowest immunization rate in the nation and Small is now leading the charge on getting some of our most vulnerable victims vaccinated.

"If you immunize 20 percent of the kids, you actually protect those over 65 better than immunizing the elderly," he said.

Action News has learned that Small and the surgeon general have plans to implement a statewide program in the school system, that would give all students in grades K-12, a flu shot at school. This is only if their parents want them to have it.

"I would never allow my grandchildren to have a flu shot," said one grandfather.

"I think it will be a great program as far as not having to take time off work and taking your child to get a flu shot," said mother Charlene Allen.

It won't come cheap. The projected start-up cost is less than $10 million a year, for the first three years. We're told that money would pay for evaluation and training for the program.

"We truly expect the program to save in excess of half a billion dollars a year," said Small.

Another payment option for the program is billing families' insurance companies for the shots. Small said that's something they'll consider when they map out a final plan.

Since everyone is suppose to have insurance as of January 1st, why should the tax payers pay for the shots. It should be billed to the insurance for the children that receives them, as approved by the Mom & Dad's

I forgot to mention vaccine court does not use juries. They simply get in the way of the government and the government does not want citizens talking about what happens when a vaccine is bad, harms or kills someone.

Apparently action news has not done the other side of the argument. Let's say the odds of an adverse reaction is 1 in 100,000 kids. If your kid happens to be that 1 it will be bad. Your child will be ruined for life. You get to go before a special vaccine court that absolves all vaccine makers from any kind of liability or prosecution. 8 to 9 times out 10 the judge will throw out your case citing lack of evidence. Good luck finding a Dr who will testify for your family in court it won't happen. Even if you find a Dr who does testify then the judge will rule against you anyways citing a preexisting condition caused the life altering injury. The state of Fla is also not testing children. Some gentic conditions and blood enzyme conditions are vulnerable to vaccines and medicines. If this horror story of what happens if you have bad reaction is not bad enough. Look at how the government lied about Gulf War Illness. In 1993 there was testimony to Congress citing deployed and non deployed alike were made sick by un -documented vaccines. Then the government came out with this cover story. See a magical version of Sarin gas was released only allies were affected by it. Even though the middle east has nearly a 3rd of rare blood enzyme conditions vulnerable somehow only the gas affected the allies of the US as it dispersed throughout Middle east. Then the US government countered that some middle easterners are sick. Then upon further research it was shown they had Depleted Uranium poisoning something the US refuses to acknowledge. Yet VA and Government officials point to that saying see some the Arab citizens are sick. Add to the fact Congress makes the anthrax vaccine mandatory for all military personnel then turns their back on what happens to those veterans years later going to great lengths to discredit them. Ask this Dr pushing for mandatory vaccines if he will help any children that end up dying or being harmed by mandatory shots. Think long and hard.
