ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A St. Johns County Firefighter is facing charges, accused of trying to pay a prostitute.
55-year old Kurt Johnson was arrested Thursday in Daytona.
According to a report obtained by Action News, Johnson approached an undercover officer posing as a prostitute and asked, "Do the cops know you?"
Police say the woman told him, "no," and said she had a room at a nearby motel. They say Johnson told the woman he had $50 and asked what he could get for the sum of money.
Once at the motel, Daytona Beach Police arrested Johnson for solicitation.
Action News did some digging and found Johnson has been with the St. Johns Fire and Rescue Department for 31 years.
A spokesperson with the fire department says Johnson has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
