JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- As the George Zimmerman murder trial winds down, law students are anticipating what the outcome will bring.

And one local law school professor at Florida Coastal School of Law, Nick Martino, is using the trial as a teaching tool.

"The best training for me is to do it. The more chances I get to actually get into a courtroom and have a case that I've been working on and present it to someone, that's the best hands on. But this is definitely second best," said student Zachary Luis Carroll.

The students have been tasked with analyzing the trial every step of the way -- how the prosecution and defense present their cases, what tactics are effective, all the way down to their body language.

"There have been a few mistakes that seem to have lead into the defense's favor," said Jennifer D'Augustinis in discussion with the group.

The group said the prosecution fumbled in opening statements, and Martino said that point alone has already taught these up and comers a valuable lesson.

"You have to be authentic. You can't oversell your position at any time. I think the state has grossly oversold their position. And I think the defense to a certain extent in different areas has as well."

Action News asked the group how they thought this case was going to turn out. The students both said legally Zimmerman will get off on all charges. Professor Martino said Zimmerman doesn't stand a chance being found guilty on a change for second-degree murder charge but the jury may convict on the manslaughter charge.
