GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Gainesville Police have arrested Clifton Baxter in the stabbing death of his friend.

Robert Dockens was found stabbed to death on Friday, October 26th. Police say Dockens and Baxter were riding in a vehicle together down University Avenue when they got into a fight over money.

Detectives say Baxter stabbed Dockens in the chest. Dockens tried to run away, but collapsed. That's when police say Baxter caught up with him and started going through his wallet. Baxter then drove off and returned to his hometown of Dothan, Alabama.

Local business owners in Gainesville helped police identify Baxter as the suspect. Baxter is behind bars in Alabama and will be extradited to the Alachua County Jail.

Gainesville Police are looking for the driver of a black pickup truck, possibly a Chevrolet Avalanche. This person spoke to Baxter the day of the murder, and may have information about what happened.

If you have any information that could help police, call detectives at 352-393-7670. You can also leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 352-372-STOP.
