CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- A man was pulled over on Saturday night for driving under the influence. The officer got more than he bargained for when the driver told him a squirrel was eating him.
Saturday evening, the Clay County Sheriff's Office received a call about a swerving silver pickup truck on Highway 17 near Black Creek Bridge.
An officer caught up with the driver and witnessed him weave on and off the road into the grass. The officer pulled over Warren Michael III, 23.
When the officer made contact with Michael he immediately told the officer, "he had a squirrel eating him." Michael pointed out a small squirrel wrapped up in his t-shirt.
According the the officer, there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from the defendant's breath and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy.
The officer had Michael attempt numerous exercises to determine if he was impaired. After the exercises, Michael was arrested and his squirrel was released to his girlfriend.
Michael was transported to the Clay County Jail where according to police he blew a .145 on a breath test. He was booked and charged with Driving Under the Influence.
