BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. -- The mayor of Hampton is facing drug charges.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Bradford County Sheriff's Office, arrested Barry Layne Moore, 53, on suspicion of possession of a Schedule I or II drug and selling a Schedule I or II drug.

Investigators received a tip that Mayor Moore may be selling prescription medication.

The drug unit at the Bradford County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation.

Authorities said Moore obtained and sold Oxycodone, a Schedule II drug.

"This isn't Toronto," said Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith, referring to Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, who recently admitted to smoking crack. "We will not tolerate illegal drug activity in my jurisdiction by anyone, to include our elected officials."
