JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police said a local mother is behind bars for the death of her 2-month-old son in September of last year.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, 23-year-old Stephanie Schoonover shook and hit Logan Hancock's head on the baby's crib on Sept. 6.
The incident took place on Sago Avenue, which is north of Interstate 295 and east of N. Main Street.
Police said Schoonover committed both actions because Hancock's father told Schoonover to watch the children while he drank alcohol. She was angry and frustrated about what Hancock's father requested.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Schoonover found Hancock not responding to her after she laid him down 30 minutes prior.
Police said Hancock died in a local hospital on Sept. 8. He died from blunt force injuries, police said.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Schoonover is charged with murder.
