JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville gay rights activists celebrated a Supreme Court decision to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act Wedensday.

About 150 people walked the streets near the Federal Courthouse to show their support for same-sex marriage.

"Today is a day of victory," said James Eddy. "Any state that has legalized gay marriage can now use that to their advantage with the federal law."

Until now, marriage was defined as a union between a man and a woman, but that is no longer the case at the federal level.

"Florida doesn't have marriage for the LBGT community, and I feel like that's something that will happen. This is a big, giant leap, and our message is now that we're onto the next step," Eddy said.

Men in military cant shower with women it's sexual harassment. Yet gays can shower with so called straight people and that is ok. Gays want the right to force you to accept them or your racist. That is ok. Gays want the right to sue Church's that maintain it is lifestyle of sin. We have teachers reading books to children that being gay is ok and good. We have gays saying that sex with 14 and 15 year olds is ok because it is consensual. Adopting children by gay's is ok because it won't hurt the child's development. A lot propaganda bout this issue and if you say anything or stand up your racist. Everyone sins true enough but how many of us are brave enough to demand its not a sin and everyone must accept it in the house of the Lord no less.

I am thrilled this has been taken care of! While I do not understand the attraction, I have several close friends that are gay and I love them for who they are not who they love. All they want is the right to share their lives in that they are able to be with their loved one through illness, on tax paying. I know more heteros that are despicable people than those that I know that are gay. TOMMY~get over your self. The mind set of some~not all~Southerners is going back to before the loss of the civil war. Not going to happen.
