JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A St. Augustine sex offender has been charged with transporting child pornography across country lines.
According to a criminal complaint, 66-year-old Charles Gorish sent a package containing media cards with images of child pornography to a person in Ontario, Canada. It was intercepted by Canadian law enforcement officers. Canadian officials then notified the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigation.
Goreish was then arrested at his house in St. Augustine on September 7, 2012. He admitted to authorities that he got the images off the internet over a period of years.
Goreish is a registered sex offender. According to court records he was convicted in 1992 of lascivious conduct on a child under 16 years of age.
If convicted, Gorish faces at least 15 years, and up to 40 years in federal prison.
