Local troops deploying to Afghanistan
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Some of America's finest from NAS Jacksonville are gearing up for a deployment. 71 Army Reserve soldiers in the 345th Combat Support Hospital will be going to Afghanistan.
The deploying soldiers will be responsible for training the Afghan National Army on detainee health care operations.
The 345th CSH is an Army Reserve unit headquartered at NAS Jax with subordinate medical units located in Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.
The group has previously deployed soldiers to support Operation Iraqi Freedom and Desert Storm.
A ceremony will be held for them at 8:30 a.m. on the base.
