Longtime friendship ends in murder

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Eric Fuller, 22, is facing a murder charge for the death of Carlton Hardaman, 24, whose body was found in the Grand Park area last Friday.

Detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced more details in the case at a press conference Tuesday morning.

According to investigators, Fuller and Hardaman were longtime friends. Police say on the night of February 1st, they got into an argument during a drug deal. Fuller beat the victim with the butt of the gun and shot him in his car before disposing of his body.

Fuller fled the scene and was arrested in Nassau County after crashing his car. According to Nassau County Deputies, Fuller confessed to shooting and killing his friend in Jacksonville.

According to JSO detectives, Fuller claims self-defense in the killing.

According to the autopsy report, Hardaman suffered from multiple blunt force injuries to his face. The manner of death was listed as a homicide.

Fuller is being held on no bond in the Duval County jail, his next court appearance is set for February 22nd.
