FOLKSTON, Ga. -- Lovebug season is here, according to the Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge.

Officials say the black-and-orange flies are harmless, but their acid can ruin paint - especially on cars.

It is suggested that you wash their acidic bodies off of cars as soon as possible after impact to minimize damage.

The refuge says that in a month or so the invasion should be over.

Thank the Lord for this highly informative article. I couldn't tell that lovebug season has begun by the hundreds of dead ones stuck to the front of my truck.
