VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WFTV) -- Troopers have reopened both directions of I-95 in south Volusia County after low visibility from smoke and fog led to three crashes.
The crashes happened around 7 a.m. in both the northbound and southbound lanes near mile marker 233 in Oak Hill. At the same time, there was fog in the area and some smoke from a nearby brush fire was being blown onto the highway.
Around 7:30 a.m., troopers closed I-95 in both directions for several miles because of low visibility. The highway was reopened around 10 a.m.
Two of the three crashes were minor and no one was seriously injured, troopers said. Five cars were involved in the third crash and one person was taken to the hospital with injuries, according to FHP.
The nearby brush fire is the same one firefighters battled Saturday evening that grew to 100 acres.
The crashes have since been cleared from the roadway and there are no visibility issues.
