JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- While the Jaguars played their third preseason game in Baltimore, Maurice Jones-Drew was back in Jacksonville and spoke with Action News' Jamie Smith.
"It's been tough obviously," said Jones-Drew, "I'd like to be out there with my teammates, but at the same time the business side has to take care of itself."
MJD's contract is set to pay him almost $10 million over the next two seasons, but the NFL's leading rusher last season wants to be paid like a top back.
Jones-Drew said he never wanted to negotiate his contract in the media. But Jags owner Shad Khan told the media this week, regarding his running back, "[The] Train's leaving the station. Run, get on it."
The Pro Bowler now says, "It's tough to feel appreciated with some of the comments he said."
Contrary to published reports, he told Action News, "I never requested a trade, no. If I ever requested a trade, you'd hear it here. I'd tell ya."
MJD continued, "I'd love to end my career in Jacksonville, but part of the business is sometimes you can't do things you want."
