KEYSTONE HEIGHTS, Fla. -- Dusty Downs gives a thumbs up as he fights for his life in a hospital bed.  He's been diagnosed with terminal cancer.  Doctors give him three months to live.

Dusty is Sarge Huffman's grandson. Sarge said, "He broke down crying saying I'm not ready to go yet."

Now, Sarge is determined to make Dusty's final days the best they can be.  "This boy's 21 years old.  And he got short-changed on life."

He asked Dusty to make a bucket list.  Sarge says he was surprised about how little Dusty wanted.  "He goes well, you can get me a used DS and a few games."

Now, the Army veteran has made it his mission to make Dusty's wishes come true.  He and a few kind friends in Clay County have organized a poker run to raise money for Dusty.

As Dusty goes through his second round of chemo, his grandfather is working to make sure his grandson enjoys every minute he has left on this earth.  And through it all, he says he's learned a valuable lesson.  "Just do good.  Life is too short.  You're just a heartbeat away from death," he said.

The poker run is Saturday, Sept. 15.  It starts and ends at Smith Lake Bar on County Road 214 in Keystone Heights.  Kickstands go up at 11 a.m.  Get there early if you want to register. Bikers, drivers, truckers, everyone is welcome to join.  The registration fee is $5 per vehicle.

If you can't make it to the poker run, but ypu still want to help this family, an account for Dusty has been opened at Capital City Bank. The account number is 2224476820.
