JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Humane Society says a 50-year-old man now faces charges for badly beating a dog.

Richard Poehler is accused of attacking a pit bull mix now named "Flo." She was found in early October with a crushed skull and several other injuries.

Workers tell Action News, it appears the dog was hit with a hammer or some other blunt object. They found metal fragments in her head before trying to stitch her up.

Flo had surgery to repair the damage and is recovering with the Humane Society. Poehler faces three counts of felony animal cruelty.

This is horrible, what is wrong with people these days...it is sad that people take their anger out on animals, instead of dealing with their issues in theropy. I hope that Flo heals from this tragedy physically and mentally.
