LAKE CITY, Fla.-- A Columbia County man is facing charges, accused of stealing a woman's credit card and using it at a local superstore.
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office says they got a call on June 4 reporting a credit card and cash stolen from a woman's purse. Upon investigation, detectives found the card was used at a Lake City convenience store as well as an area Walmart. Through surveillance, detectives were able to make a description of the suspect and vehicle.
On Friday, deputies responded to a disabled vehicle on U.S. 441 North with the driver inside. Detectives say that driver, 24-year-old David Webster, matched the description of the suspect they were looking for in the credit card theft case.
Webster was taken into custody for questioning where detectives say he admitted to stealing the credit card and cash from the victim's purse while at a local restaurant.
Webster was arrested and charged with Grand Theft, Fraud by Impersonation, and Credit Card Fraud.
