ORANGE PARK Fla-- Island View Baptist Church wants to know why their place of vigil become a place for vandals just before 4:00 AM Sunday. Religious text was found charred and glass was shattered everywhere inside one of the church buildings.

"Chairs were set on fire, chairs were thrown through windows, picture frames busted," said Pastor Kelvin Collison of the destruction.

The Pastor told Action News that a drunken man lashed out at his church's Sunday School.

"This was a gentleman who was intoxicated and upset and happned to walk into our church and throw a temper tantrum," he said. "It's unfortunate it got so out of control and caused so much damage."

The damage is estimated at $35,000. Ironically 21 years ago this month, the church's sanctuary also caught fire and burned down.

"For some of those church members to arrive to smell smoke it brought back a lot of memories and not good ones," said Pastor Collison.

Services ran as usual Sunday morning. The church says they're practicing what any good Christian should; forgiveness.

Congrats!...We have four Grands...One graduates H.S. next year and one just started K. Short of moving to another Country where our FREEDOMS and jobs arn't in jeopardy, I don't know what happen, and no one likes to live this way, not knowing our children and their children will HAVE a 'successfull and secure' future.

You too...But your right too, I am over sensitive these days. If Obama gets re-elected, I'm probably going to NEED a lot of 'meds'....because my fear for the future of my 'Grandchildren's Country' will make me a complete basket case for the next 4 years, no doubt.

icountry, you sure are full of nastiness, arn't you? You MUST ALSO believe that the 4 Americans murdered at our American Embassey in LIBYA was over a stupid movie that may or may not be 'fact or fiction'. A movie THAT WAS SUPPOSE to be protected under OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS. Nothing I commented about on THIS story warranted your false accusations and insinuations that I am on drugs, prescribed or otherwise.. All I can figure out now is you must have a 'crush' on me like some 6 year old boy. I would be flattered, but my husband has all the loving I need....BUT FOR THIS IDIOT to set a place of 'worship' on fire shows an ABSOLUTE lack of any FAITH..and I don't care who you are, sooner or later, we ALL find our Faith through God..whether your Christain, Jewish, Babtist, Muslim, Buddist, Agnostic, Athiest or just redneck porceline throne worshipper's such as yourself, BUT WILLING OR NOT, WE WILL COME TO GOD.

I agree with gunny God gives us free will. Some people choose to use that free will to do evil. Still what kind world have we become where a sanctuary from violence, such as churches, are no longer respected. We should however get that man's side of the story as to why he did that. Sometimes there is more than one side of a story.

Gunny48: If what you say is true, why bother praying, if it's all up to us, anyway? Your logic is illogical at best. I live in the real world, and the real world is full of hate and division. It's just how it is. Religion does nothing but foment bigotry and hate.

@ scooter11 - it doesn't work that way. HE gives us free will so it's on us whatever we decide. May GOD bless you.

God must have been asleep, or too lazy to protect his own edifice.
