INTERLACHEN, Fla. -- Two Putnam County men are on the run from the law.
Michael Crum, 18, and Adam Hale, 22, are cousins now facing attempted murder charges after deputies say they robbed and beat their 78-year-old neighbor with a pipe.
"He was beaten pretty bad," said Sgt. Hancel Woods with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
It happened Sunday. Woods said Crum and Hale went to the victim's home in the middle of the night looking for a ride and "when he refused, they forced their way into the home and attacked him."
Woods said the cousins took off with the victim's car and the little bit of money he had in his pocket. It was less than $20.
Shocked neighbor Minerva Rivera said, "Less than $20? Oh my God."
Action News went to Crum and Hale's home looking for answers. A woman inside refused to talk to us.
Neighbors have been told to be on the lookout for two dangerous men.
Woods said, "We certainly need to find these people before something like this happens to someone else."
Deputies said they found the victim's car about three miles away from his home.
They have information that suggests the suspects could be headed to the Tampa area.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS. A $1000 reward is being offered.
