SATSUMA, Fla. -- A man from Putnam County is accused of beating up another man and stealing his car on Thanksgiving.
Deputies say Bounthavong Chanthavong got into a fight with Pjeter Kqira at a fruit stand in Satsuma before driving off in his car.
Kqira tried to grab his wife from the car, but ended up being dragged about 400 feet as Chanthavong sped away. Kqira told investigators he was afraid Chanthavong would hurt his wife so he refused to let go.
Deputies chased Chanthavong for several miles and deployed stop sticks to bring the car to a stop. Authorities needed to use their Tasers to get Chanthavong into handcuffs.
Investigators say Chanthavong tried to carjack two other people that day. He is facing charges of aggravated battery, false imprisonment, criminal mischief, armed burglary, motor vehicle theft, carjacking, armed carjacking, resisting an officer without violence and giving false identification to law enforcement.
