ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A person of interest in the disappearance of a St. Johns County woman has now been charged with her murder.

A grand jury indicted 42-year-old Timothy Lee Johnson on Monday. Investigators believe he had a role in the disappearance of Rebecca Ware back in 2010. Her car was last seen at a Publix in St. Augustine that October. Her body has not been recovered.

Sources close to the investigation tell Action News a cell phone signal from Johnson's phone put him near Ware's home the day she disappeared. Sources also say he burned the clothing he was wearing in a bonfire after she vanished.

Johnson has been charged with second-degree murder, which is punishable with a life sentence.

The investigation is ongoing. Those with information are urged to contact St. Johns County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS.  You could receive a cash reward.
