JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police arrested a man for shooting a woman in the face with a shotgun.
The incident happened at the Bottoms Up Club on Blanding Boulevard early Monday morning.
According to the suspect, police said the victim was making a scene at the club, and at one point, told the suspect that she "had a gun in her trunk and was willing to shoot the place up."
Kevin Wilcoxen told police the woman left the club and returned three times, causing a commotion each time.
On the third occasion, the woman refused to leave the club. Wilcoxen told police he feared for his life and everyone else's. He then used a shotgun to fire a pepper ball into her car, hitting her in the face.
Wilcoxen has been charged with shooting a deadly missile into a car, and aggravated battery.
The woman is recovering at the hospital.
