ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A man is facing charges after speeding, then crashing his car with a baby in the backseat, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say Kenneth Leonard Johnson, 31, was clocked going 115 miles per hour on County Road 13 South late Tuesday night.

The deputy followed Johnson who then lost control of his car at County Road 305.

The car hit a telephone pole and caught fire.

Johnson pulled a small child from the car seat in the back of the car. The child was not hurt.

Johnson faces culpable negligence charges as well, for exposing the 1-year-old girl to personal injury while speeding.
