Man convicted in child sex case
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man is facing life in prison for his role in a case of a local mom accused of selling sex with her daughter for drugs.
A jury convicted John Fitzgerald Hagans, 48, on one count of sexual battery. He faces a mandatory life sentence. He will be sentenced in mid-September.
The girl's mother, Dalina Nicholas, pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated child neglect.
Investigators said she was so addicted to crack cocaine that she failed to properly watch her daughter.
Prosecutors want her to spend at least 25 years in prison. A date for her sentencing has not been set.
