JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A jury convicted Jehu Rodriguez Ramirez Thursday afternoon on charges of Sexual Battery and Lewd or Lascivious Molestation.

Ramirez, 33, sexually abused a 4-year-old child in April 2010. Evidence showed Ramirez raped and inappropriately touched the little girl, whom his girlfriend was babysitting.

Police were alerted to the abuse after the child reported it to her mother the same day.

"This verdict is in large part the result of the bravery of one little child and the excellent investigative work of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office," said Assistant State Attorney Erin Perry.

Ramirez faces a mandatory life sentence in prison. He will be sentenced during the week of November 26, 2012.
