JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man convicted of attempted felony murder and armed robbery will spend the rest of his life in prison after being sentenced Wednesday to two concurrent life terms.

Nicholas Duane Warren, 23, was convicted in August. He and co-defendant James Taylor broke into a Jacksonville beach home in March and used a crowbar to beat a man. Warren and Taylor also tried to shoot the victim, but the gun jammed. Warren took TVs, a laptop and other electronics from the home.

Warren is a prison release reoffender. He was convicted in 2008 of grand theft auto and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was released from prison in November 2009.

Taylor pleaded guilty in August to charges of attempted felony murder and armed robbery. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
