Man convicted of having sex with a child, sentenced to life
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man was convicted of capital sexual battery charges after touching a girl inappropriately.
Norman James Thompson, 52, was convicted Friday of capital sexual battery on a minor. He was sentenced to life in prison.
In 2012, police were notified of sexual activity involving a young child. The report says the child's mother Dalina Nicholas was so addicted to crack cocaine that she failed to supervise the victim properly. The victim said Thompson had touched her inappropriately.
Nicholas pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated child neglect and will be sentenced next week. The state is recommending a sentence of no less than 25 years in prison for Nicholas.
