CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- A man from Clay County is going to prison on child pornography charges.
A federal jury convicted Melvin Hubert Holmes, 52, of the production and possession of child pornography.
Investigators said Holmes set up a hidden video spy camera in several locations in a bathroom at his home. Authorities said he used the camera to capture pornographic videos and images of a minor.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office first became aware of the hidden cameras in August 2012. Deputies discovered partially covered holes in a vanity sink and in the walls of the bathroom.
The video and images were found by Holmes' wife on his work computer, according to detectives.
Holmes, according to the arrest report, worked at the time for the Florida Times-Union.
Investigators found dozens of images and videos depicting child pornography on his computer.
Holmes will be sentenced January 6, 2014. He faces 15 to 30 years for producing child porn, and up to 10 years in prison for possession of child porn.
He'll remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
