Man convicted of sexual battery after attacking a sleeping woman
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A jury has convicted a 31-year-old man on one count of sexual battery after attacking a woman in her sleep. It happened in January 2012 Jamie Spivey was hanging out at his home with the victim and several friends. While the victim was asleep, Spivey proceeded to have sex with her without her consent.
The State Attorney's Office says Spivey is considered a Habitual Felony Offender, Habitual Violent Felony Offender and a prison release reoffender. His previous convictions include burglary and aggravated battery. The crimes occurred in Pinellas and Duval counties.
Spivey now faces 30 years with a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison. His sentencing date has not been set.
