Man convicted of stealing gun from local motel

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A jury has found a man guilty of stealing a gun from a Jacksonville motel and selling it.
Jeremiah Keith Higgins is convicted on charges of Armed Burglary and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Police say Higgins broke into a hotel room at the Ramada Inn on Cagle Road in April 2011. The 23-year-old took a shotgun from the room and then sold the gun to a drug dealer.

Higgins has felony convictions from 2009 for Burglary and Dealing in Stolen Property.

Higgins is facing up to life in prison. His sentencing date will be set Sept. 17, 2012.
