Man convicted on multiple aggravated assault charges
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was convicted Friday in a 2012 disturbance outside his home.
A jury deliberated 50 minutes before convicting Randal Ratledge, 56, Friday on six counts of aggravated assault.
In August 2012, Ratledge came out of his house with a gun and fired a shot into the air. The defendant then charged a group of victims standing in the street, and fired another round in their direction. The victims began to fight with Ratledge while trying to take the gun away from him. Ratledge eventually dropped the gun and went back inside his home.
Ratledge was offered a plea deal of 10 years in prison. He turned down that offer and decided to go to trial.
Ratledge now faces a minimum mandatory of 20 years in prison on each count. He will be sentenced the week of Oct. 7.
