Man dies after crashing his car into mobile home

WELAKA, Fla. -- A 60-year-old man was killed after crashing his van into mobile home off County Road 309 Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Michael Chevett, 60, was driving south on CR 309 when he veered off the road, drove through a street sign and crashed into a mobile home.

Chevett was transported to Putnam County Hospital where he died from his injuries.

No passengers were involved in the crash and no one inside the mobile home were injured.

The FHP is investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
