MARION COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies, on the hunt for a missing juvenile, say a man they pulled over for questioning tried to eat marijuana, in an effort to hide the illegal drug.

The incident happened Monday along SR 200, near Ocala.

Deputy Valdez, with the Marion County Sherriff’s Office, reports that Willie Bryant, 42, was chewing and tried to swallow something when she approached the side door for questioning.

The press release states that Deputy Valdez forced the suspect out of the car, at which point, he spit out some green substance on the trunk lid of the vehicle, which appeared to be marijuana.

A later field test confirmed the substance was marijuana, according to the MCSO.

The missing juvenile has been located by police.

Bryant was charged with drug possession and tampering with evidence.
