PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- A local man will spend the rest of his life in prison for stabbing another man to death during a robbery.

20-year-old Evans David Perez Martinez was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Tuesday. Martinez was convicted last month by a Putnam County jury of First Degree Murder and Robbery with a Deadly Weapon.

In 2010, Martinez stabbed Zenovia King several times in the neck and torso, all so he could steal money and drugs from King.

Another man, 19-year-old Demarkis Phillips pleaded guilty for his role in the crime. Phillips was sentenced to 23 years in prison and 10 years of probation.
