JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- A Jacksonville man was sentenced to life in prison in a 2010 drive-by shooting death.
Shaheim Hassan Lomax, 21, was sentenced this week to life in prison, with a minimum mandatory of life in prison, for the death of Spencer Winkfield. Lomax was also sentenced to 15 years in prison for possession of a firearm by a juvenile delinquent to have committed a felony act.
In September 2010, Winkfield, 20, and his friends were hanging out near Liberty Street Boulevard and East 45th Street when Lomax approached them in a vehicle, pointed a handgun at them and shot several times.
Winkfield was struck twice, once in the foot and once in the back. He died at the hospital two days later.
Lomax was arrested two months later. Witnesses also identified Lomax as the shooter that night.
